He will also demonstrate the use of computer simulation methods to analyze interference fit and stack-up assemblies using data from relatively small samples. __________________________________________________________________ Dinner: 6:00 ? 7:00pm. Light Supper is served from 6:00 PM. Dinner is still only $5.00. Tolerances for CTQs must meet the customer's explicit requirements, so CTQs are usually clearly defined, thoroughly researched, and well understood. Non-CTQs are less important but are usually not as well understood, so their tolerances are usually set based on limited information and experience. Paul Mathews will discuss the different strategies used for setting and managing tolerances for these two important types of quality characteristics. Paul Mathews describes himself as a physicist by education, an engineer by experience, and a statistician out of necessity. He holds degrees in physics from Miami University (BS) and Case Western Reserve University (MS). He worked at General Electric Lighting as a design engineer (1981-1993) and at Lakeland Community College where he was responsible for the Quality Engineering Technology program (1993-1998). Since 1998, Paul has provided quality engineering and applied statistical training and consulting services through his company Mathews Malnar and Bailey, Inc. He is a member of the American Statistical Association (ASA) and the American Society for Quality (ASQ). He is an ASQ Certified Quality Engineer and ASQ Certified Six Sigma Black Belt, holds ten patents, and is the author of two books: Design of Experiments with MINITAB and Sample Size Calculations for Process Improvement.A Chinese proverb says: ?May You Live In Interesting Times.? Excel formulas often require input values that reside in table data. Frequently this data is either standardized values from references, or empirical results that formulas consider as inputs. Within Excel are several powerful and versatile tools for automating referral to values in such tables. We will discuss some simple to moderately complex data querying methods useful for obtaining those values for calculations requiring them. These methods are separate from Excel?s database functions (which will be covered in a future TP session). By Dave Brown. __________________________________________________________________ Dinner: 6:00 ? 7:00pm. Light Supper is served from 6:00 PM. Dinner is still only $5.00. Many companies and their Quality Control Professionals initiate corrective actions only to have the symptoms recur. The 8 Disciplines provides a structured, permanent approach to problem solving. In some cases a Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) or Corrective and Preventive Action Report (CPAR) might suffice. But for large-scale permanent action, the, 8D, the Global 8D or Team Oriented Problem Solving (TOPS) are necessary. Paul Gundersen will now describe the 8 Disciplines. Paul Gundersen is a Quality Control Professional. He has saved $1.8 Million for his employers by managing Lean Six Sigma Projects. He has improved customer satisfaction by 84% by reducing warranty. He has worked for several large companies such as Eaton, Raytheon, Ford Motor Company, General Electric and Johnson & Johnson. He has also worked for smaller firms such as Libra Industries, CAD Engineering, Hexagram, Keithley Instruments and Bird Electronics. His credentials include a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, and Certified Six-Sigma Black Belt from ASQ. He also holds the CQE and CQA Credentials. Possible future TP sessions (we need your suggestions and feedback as we plan ahead): *Some examples of logical expressions in Excel.* *Hypothesis testing in Excel.* *Excel Database functions*. *ANOVA using Excel.* *DOE design libraries, for Excel." *Some applications of Excel VBA .* *Comparisons between Excel and Open Office.* -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
